Paris, TN – Cancer patients have to go through so much from diagnosis to treatment, the Paris and Henry County Healthcare Foundation is happy to offer something to help put a smile on their faces. The Caring Hearts Fund hopes that its Annual Ed Roberts Caring Hearts Fund Cancer Survivor Dinner will do just that for cancer survivors and their special guests. The dinner is set for 5 p.m. Thursday, December 7, at Maplewood Baptist Church in Paris.
The Caring Hearts Fund continues to need your support to help make this meal a special evening for cancer survivors. A traditional turkey and dressing meal will be served along with entertainment by Keith Longbotham.
If you are interested in attending the meal or making a donation, contact Daughrity at 731-644-8266. We are still taking reservations for the event.
This event was established by the late Ed Roberts in the basement of the HCMC Cancer Center in 1989 with only a few dollars and 20 guests. The event was then taken over by his wife Barbara after his passing. Barbara gave the dinner over to the Caring Hearts Fund and the Cancer Care Center, but this year, Barbara is back in full force to help ensure the dinner is a big success.
“No one knows more than Barbara Roberts how much this meal means to every survivor,” said Tory Daughrity, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at HCMC. “For some, it is the only time they get to dress up and go out to eat. For others, it may be the only gift they receive for Christmas. We are looking forward to a great meal at a new location with new energy!”
The Caring Hearts Fund of the Paris and Henry County Healthcare Foundation is a local fund that provides financial assistance for co-pays, insurance premiums, medications and transportation to those cancer patients whom are undergoing cancer treatment at the local Cancer Care Center Henry County and outpatient Chemotherapy Department at Henry County Medical Center.
