Paris, Tenn.–Henry County High School will observe its 50th anniversary with activities set for the weekend of September 27th-29th.
“Several events are being planned for the ‘Happy 50th Birthday HCHS’ weekend, and we invite anyone with a connection to Henry County High School to help us celebrate,” according to Principal Michele Webb.
Several classes plan to tailgate prior to the 7:30 p.m. kickoff for the homecoming football game on Friday, September 27th. Special recognitions will take place during the game.
The HCHS All Classes Alumni Gala—an event open to all HCHS alumni, educators, and guests—will be on Saturday, September 28th at the Henry County Fairgrounds with doors opening at 5 p.m., dinner and program at 6 p.m., and dancing afterward. Tickets will be $25 per person and available beginning July 9th in the main office of HCHS from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Only 400 tickets will be sold on a first-come basis.
An open house will take place from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, September 29th. The Little Theater will be renamed the Linda Wilson Miller Theater with a ceremony at 2:00 p.m. followed by a time capsule burial at 3:00 p.m. Tours of the building and a 50th anniversary exhibit will be available.
“HCHS is looking for people to loan us artifacts, including uniforms, jackets, shirts, pennants, photographs, etc., representing all decades of the school’s history for the exhibit. In addition, our 50th anniversary committee welcomes ideas of items to be placed in the time capsule that will be opened as part of the school’s centennial in 2069,” Webb said.
