3/27  THE KIDZ OUTDOORS “TURKEY EXTRAVAGANZA” WILL BE FRIDAY AT THE HUNTINGDON CHURCH OF CHRIST ON MAIN STREET STARTING AT 5.  THERE WILL BE LIVE AUCTIONS, SILENT AUCTIONS, ENTERTAINMENT AND A MEAL FOR $10.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 731-415-9170.

3/27  THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS WILL HOST ANOTHER FISH FRY ON FRIDAY FROM 5PM-7PM IN THE ACTIVITY BUILDING OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH ON REELFOOT AVENUE IN UNION CITY.  IT’S $9 FOR ADULTS, $5 FOR CHILDREN 12 & UNDER AND $25 FOR A FAMILY OF 4.

3/27  HENRY COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER WILL OFFER HEALTH SCREENINGS AT THE PARIS CIVIC CENTER ON FRIDAY FROM 9AM-11AM.  THERE WILL BE FREE FINGER BLOOD SUGAR STICKS, OSTEOPOROSIS AND BLOOD PRESSURE TESTS.  FINGER STICK TOTAL CHOLESTEROL TESTS WILL BE OFFERED FOR $3 OR A LIPID PANEL FOR $10.  RESULTS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE SCREENING.

3/28  THE WORLD’S BIGGEST FISH FRY HEADQUARTERS GRAND OPENING WILL BE AT 10AM ON SATURDAY AT THE HEADQUARTERS, 1330 E. WOOD STREET, IN PARIS.  THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE BOOK DEDICATION AND THE IDENTITY OF THE GRAND MARSHAL FOR THE 62ND ANNUAL GRAND PARADE WILL BE MADE.

3/28  THE OBION COMMUNITY CLUB BREAKFAST WILL BE SATURDAY FROM 7AM-10AM.  THE MENU INCLUDES BACON, COUNTRY HAM, SAUSAGE, SCRAMBLED EGGS, BISCUITS AND MORE.  ADULTS ARE $7 AND CHILDREN ARE $3.  PROCEEDS WILL GO TOWARDS COMMUNITY PROJECTS IN CELEBRATION OF HOLIDAY SUCH AS THE ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT.

3/28  THE 2015 “IDES OF MARCH HAMFEST” FOR AREA HAM RADIO OPERATORS WILL BE SATURDAY MORNING STARTING AT 8AM AT THE TENNESSEE NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY IN UNION CITY.  THE EVENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND YOU CAN TAKE A TEST TO BECOME A HAM RADIO OPERATOR.  TO FIND OUT MORE, GO TO REELFOOTARC.COM.

3/28  THE PURYEAR BOY SCOUT TROOP 226 WILL HOST A PANCAKE BREAKFAST ON SATURDAY FROM 7AM-11AM AT THE FAMILY LIFE CENTER AT PURYEAR BAPTIST CHURCH.  THE BREAKFAST IS A SUGGESTED DONATION FOR $7 FOR ADULTS AND $3 FOR CHILDREN UNDER 5.  PROCEEDS WILL HELP SUPPORT THE BOY SCOUTS.

3/28  THE 29TH ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT SPONSORED BY MARTIN PARKS AND RECREATION WILL BE SATURDAY AT THE MARTIN RECREATION COMPLEX.  THESE HUNTS ARE FREE OF CHARGE AND THERE WILL BE SEVERAL AGE DIVISIONS.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 587-6784.

3/28  THE WOODLANDS NATURE STATION, AT LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES, WILL HOST “GIRL SCOUT DAY” ON SATURDAY FROM 10AM-3PM.  THERE WILL BE HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES, INFORMATIVE BOOTHS, SCAVENGER HUNTS AND STAFF-LED PROGRAMS.  GIRL SCOUTS ARE WELCOME TO COME WITH THEIR TROOPS OR INDIVIDUALLY WITH A PARENT.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 270-924-2299.

3/29  MASQUERADE THEATER WILL PRESENT THE MUSICAL “GODSPELL” AT THE CAPITOL THEATER IN DOWNTOWN UNION CITY AGAIN THIS WEEKEND.  FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT PERFORMANCES BEGIN AT 7:30PM AND SUNDAY AFTERNOON MATINEES START AT 2PM.  TICKETS ARE $10 EACH AND CAN BE PURCHASED ONLINE AT UCMASQUERADETHEATER.COM  OR AT THE BOX OFFICE JUST BEFORE SHOW TIME.

3/31  TOMORROW’S HOPE MEDICAL CLINIC IS CONDUCTING A SHOE COLLECTION DRIVE NOW THROUGH MAY 29TH.  TOMORROW’S HOPE WILL EARN FUNDS BASED ON THE NUMBER OF PAIRS COLLECTED.  ANYONE CAN HELP BY DONATING GENTLY WORN, USED OR NEW SHOES AT THE CLINIC AT 211 NORTH BREWER STREET IN PARIS.

4/2  THE PARIS-HENRY COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL WILL ONCE AGAIN HOST THEIR 30TH ANNUAL COMMUNITY ARTIST SHOWCASE.  YOU ARE WELCOMED TO SUBMIT UP TO THREE PIECES OF ART.  THERE IS A $10 FEE PER PIECE FOR ADULTS.  THERE IS NO FEE FOR THOSE 16 AND UNDER.  ENTRY FORMS MUST BE TURNED IN TO THE ARTS COUNCIL OFFICE BY THURSDAY, APRIL 2ND.  ALL WORK MUST BE DELIVERED TO THE W.G. 4/4  THE QUOTA CLUB OF PARIS WILL HOST AN EASTER BAKE SALE ON SATURDAY, APRIL 4TH FROM 8AM-NOON AT COMMERCIAL BANK ON MINERAL WELLS AVENUE IN PARIS.  THEY WILL HAVE CAKES, PIES, COBBLERS, CUPCAKES AND OTHER TREATS FOR SALE.  PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE QUOTA CLUB SCHOLARSHIP FUND.

4/4  CROSSWIND CHURCH WILL HOST THEIR ANNUAL COMMUNITY EASTER EGG HUNT ON SATURDAY, APRIL 4TH FROM 11AM-1PM AT THE CHURCH ON BARHAM ROAD IN UNION CITY.  THEY’LL HAVE FREE FOOD, BOUNCE HOUSES, PRIZES AND MORE.  EVERYONE IS WELCOME.  TO FIND OUT MORE, GO TO CROSSWINDCHURCH.NET.

4/4  THERE WILL BE AN ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT CATFISH MEAL AT THE ELBRIDGE-CLOVERDALE COMMUNITY CENTER ON SATURDAY, APRIL 4TH FROM 5PM-7P.  THE MENU INCLUDES CATFISH FILLETS, SLAW, FRENCH FRIES, HUSH PUPPIES, TEA AND DESSERT.  TICKETS ARE $9.  THERE WILL ALSO BE A MEAT SALE HELD IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE MEAL.  YOU CAN GET BOSTON BUTTS FOR $30, 1LB BOLOGNA FOR $5, A SLAB OF RIBS FOR $20 AND HAMS FOR $30.  ALL ORDERS MUST BE RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE APRIL 4TH.  FOR INFORMATION ON HOW TO PLACE YOUR ORDER, CALL 538-2386.

4/11  THE STEWART COUNTY HEALTH COUNCIL WILL HOST THE FIRST EVER “MARATHON IN A MONTH” KICK-OFF AT THE STEWART COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL SMART COURSE ON SATURDAY, APRIL 11TH.  THIS PROGRAM IS A WAY TO GET PEOPLE MOVING AND MOTIVATE CITIZENS TO LIVE A HEALTHIER, MORE PRODUCTIVE LIFESTYLE.  EACH PERSON HAS UNTIL MAY 11TH TO COMPLETE 26.2 MILES.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 232-5351.

4/12  THE DYERSBURG HIGH SCHOOL TROJAN DRAMA DEPARTMENT WILL PRESENT THE PLAY “SOMETHING…A PLAY ABOUT EVERYTHING” THURSDAY, APRIL 9TH THROUGH SUNDAY, APRIL 12TH AT THE DYERSBURG HIGH SCHOOL LITTLE THEATER.  THURSDAY, FRIDAY & SATURDAY SHOWS ARE AT 7PM AND THE SUNDAY AFTERNOON MATINEE WILL BE AT 2PM.  TICKETS ARE $6 AND THEY’RE AVAILABLE AT THE BOX OFFICE JUST PRIOR TO THE SHOW.

4/17  THE ANNUAL “GLO FOR A CURE” 5K WILL BE FRIDAY, APRIL 17TH AT FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN UNION CITY.  REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN AT 6:30PM AND THE RACE WILL BEGIN AT DUSK.  REGISTRATION IS $20 IF YOU PAY BY APRIL 10TH (AND THAT INCLUDES A T-SHIRT & GLO WEAR) OTHERWISE IT IS $25 ON RACE DAY.  PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED IN ALL AGE BRACKETS.  ALL PROCEEDS GO TO THE CYSTIC FIBROSIS FOUNDATION.  TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO GET SIGNED UP, EMAIL CFFRIENDSFORACURE@GMAIL.COM.

4/18  THE 1ST ANNUAL “MILES FOR MEALS” 5K AND 1 MILE FUN RUN WILL BE SATURDAY, APRIL 18TH AT THE MARTIN RECREATIONAL COMPLEX.  THIS EVENT IS BEING HELD TO HELP PROVIDE EMERGENCY ITEMS LIKE MEAL AND HEATERS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.  TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE EVENT OR HOW TO REGISTER, CALL 587-4213.

4/30  THE MONTH OF APRIL IS “HENRY COUNTY RABIES VACCINATION MONTH”.  ALL PARTICIPATING ANIMAL CLINICS IN HENRY COUNTY WILL OFFER DOG OR CAT VACCINATIONS FOR $6 PLUS A $1.50 LICENSE FEE.  LAKEWAY ANIMAL CLINIC, MINERAL WELLS ANIMAL CLINIC, PARIS VETERINARY CLINIC AND THE ANIMAL DOCTOR WILL OFFER THESE SPECIAL RATES THROUGH APRIL 30TH.
