7/22  THE UNION CITY CIVITAN WILL SPONSOR THE ANNUAL CIVITAN OPEN TENNIS TOURNAMENT FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY AT THE UNION CITY COURTS LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.  THERE WILL BE SINGLES, DOUBLES AND MIXED DOUBLES WITH A $20 ENTRY FEE PER PERSON.  ENTRY FORMS MUST BE TURNED IN BY TUESDAY, JULY 22ND.  TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO GET ENTERED, CALL 885-9730.

7/25  REGISTRATION FOR THE “EVERY DAY SUMMER CAMP” CONTINUES THROUGH FRIDAY.  THIS SUMMER CAMP IS DESIGNED TO TEACH CHILDREN ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF NUTRITION, SLEEP AND EXERCISE TO THEIR HEALTH WITH FUN ACTIVES AND GAMES.  THERE ARE 30 SPACES STILL AVAILABLE FOR THIS FREE CAMP GEARED TOWARDS ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS.  THE CAMP WILL RUN NEXT WEEK AT ATKINS PORTER GYM IN PARIS.  TO REGISTER FOR THE CAMP, CALL 644-3463

7/26  TICKETS ARE ON SALE FOR THE OBION COUNTY CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING REBEL BAND’S ANNUAL CHICKEN DINNER, AUCTION AND PREVIEW SHOW ON FRIDAY NIGHT.  THE SUPPER AND AUCTION WILL BE IN THE COMMONS AREA AT THE HIGH SCHOOL FROM 5PM-7PM AND THE FIELD SHOW PREVIEW WILL BEGIN AT 7PM.  TICKETS ARE $8.  YOU CAN PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE FROM ANY BAND MEMBER OR GET THEM AT THE DOOR ON FRIDAY. 

7/26  THE LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES NATIONAL RECREATION AREA WILL OFFER A SUNSET KAYAK TRIP ON SATURDAY NIGHT.  ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF AN LBL SUNSET AS YOU PADDLE THE WATERS OF ONE OF LAKE BARKLEY’S SCENIC BAYS.  YOU’LL ALSO SEARCH FOR WILDLIFE THAT VISITS THE LAKE AT TWILIGHT SUCH AS BEAVERS, HERONS AND SONGBIRDS.  IT IS $20 PER KAYAK. REGISTRATION IS LIMITED.  RESERVATIONS AND FULL DEPOSITS ARE REQUIRED. TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT, CALL 270-924-2020

STUBBLEFIELD, A NATIVE HENRY COUNTIAN, WILL BE SIGNING COPIES OF HIS BOOK “SACRED SEED AND LIVING BREAD” ON SATURDAY AT JACK’S JAVA ON MARKET STREET IN PARIS FROM 11AM-1PM. STUBBLEFIELD WAS BORN AND RAISED IN BUCHANAN AND WAS PRESIDENT OF THE FIRST GRADUATING SENIOR CLASS AT HENRY COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL IN 1970.

7/26  THE PARIS LANDING STATE PARK CONTINUES THEIR “SUMMER IN THE PARK CONCERT SERIES” WITH MUSIC FROM THE COUNTY GROUP “JACKSON PURCHASE” ON SATURDAY NIGHT STARTING AT 7PM.  BRING YOUR LAWN CHAIRS AND BLANKETS AND ENJOY SOME GREAT MUSIC ALONG BEAUTIFUL KENTUCKY LAKE.

8/1  THE TWIN CITIES CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WILL HOST A “NITE LITE” GOLF SCRAMBLE ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 1ST AT THE FULTON COUNTRY CLUB.  ENTRY FEE IS $25 PER PERSON AND THAT INCLUDES DINNER, CART, GREEN FEE $ 1 GLOW BALL.  A PORTION OF THE PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE FULTON COUNTRY CLUB.

8/1  REGISTRATION FOR STUDENTS NEW TO THE PARIS SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL BE FRIDAY, AUGUST 1ST FROM 8AM-11AM IN EACH BUILDING IN THE DISTRICT.  RETURNING STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE PHONE CALLS FROM THEIR TEACHERS STARTING ON MONDAY, JULY 28TH WITH REGISTRATION INFORMATION.

8/3  LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES NATIONAL RECREATION AREA WILL HOST THE ANNUAL HUMMINGBIRD FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 2ND AND SUNDAY, AUGUST 3RD AT THE WOODLANDS NATURE STATION FROM 10AM-4PM EACH DAY.  THEY’LL HAVE HUMMINGBIRD BANDING DEMONSTRATIONS, WILDLIFE SKETCHING WORKSHOP, WILDLIFE ART SHOW AND MORE.  ADMISSION IS $6 FOR AGES 13 AND UP, $4 FOR AGES 5-12 AND FREE FOR CHILDREN 4 AND UNDER.

8/4  THE GLEASON CLINIC WILL HOST THEIR ANNUAL HUNTER SAFETY COURSE AUGUST 4TH, 5TH, 7TH AND 8TH AT 6PM.  THE CLASS IS FREE OF CHARGE, BUT YOU MUST BE 10 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AND ATTEND ALL 4 CLASSES.  CALL THE GLEASON CLINIC FOR INFORMATION ON HOW TO REGISTER AT 648-5634.

8/10  FORMER RESIDENTS OF THE AREA NOW KNOWN AT LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES WILL GATHER ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 10TH AT FENTON FOR THEIR ANNUAL HOMECOMING CELEBRATION.  ALL FORMER RESIDENTS, RELATIVES AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.  FENTON IS LOCATED JUST EAST OF THE EGGNER’S FERRY BRIDGE ON US68/KY80;  THE REUNION WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE PAVILION.  TO FIND OUT MORE, GO TO LBL.ORG.

8/31  HERE’S A COUPLE OF GREAT IDEAS FOR SUMMER FUN FROM THE PARIS LANDING GOLF COURSE.   “TWILIGHT RATES ARE NOW IN EFFECT.   PLAY FOR $28 AFTER 1PM EVERY DAY.   PARIS LANDING ALSO HAS A “GROWING THE GAME” SPECIAL NOW THROUGH AUGUST 31ST.   JUNIORS 17 AND UNDER PLAY FREE WITH PAYING PARENT OR GUARDIAN AFTER 1PM SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.  ENJOY THE BEAUTIFUL PARIS LANDING GOLF COURSE AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THESE SPECIALS THIS SUMMER.
