2/27  THE 23RD ANNUAL PHOTO SHOWCASE WILL BE AT THE W.G. RHEA LIBRARY IN PARIS FROM MARCH 7TH THROUGH APRIL 2ND.  PHOTOGRAPHERS ARE WELCOME TO ENTER UP TO THREE FRAMED PHOTOGRAPHS.  ENTRY FORMS MUST BE TURNED INTO THE PARIS/HENRY COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL OFFICE BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27TH.  TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO GET YOUR ENTRY FORM, GO TO PHCARTS.COM.

2/27  THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS WILL HAVE A FISH FRY ON FRIDAY FROM 5PM-7PM AT THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH ACTIVITY BUILDING ON REELFOOT AVENUE IN UNION CITY.  IT’S $9 FOR ADULTS, $5 FOR CHILDREN 12 & UNDER AND $25 FOR A FAMILY OF 4 OR MORE.

2/28  THE PARIS-HENRY COUNTY HERITAGE CENTER IS HOSTING A TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM TRAVELING EXHIBIT “COMMON PEOPLE IN UNCOMMON TIMES”.  THIS EXHIBIT IS A CELEBRATION OF THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CIVIL WAR AND THE CIVIL WAR EXPERIENCE IN TENNESSEE.  THE EXHIBIT RUNS UNTIL MARCH 28TH AND ADMISSION IS FREE.

2/28  THE OBION COMMUNITY CLUB WILL HOST A BREAKFAST ON SATURDAY MORNING FROM 7AM-10AM.  THEY’LL HAVE BACON, COUNTRY HAM, SAUSAGE, EGGS, BISCUITS, PANCAKES AND MORE ON THE MENU.  ADULTS ARE $7 AND CHILDREN ARE $3.  PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT COMMUNITY PROJECTS INCLUDING THE ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT.

2/28  THE JACK MITCHELL COLLECTION IS ON DISPLAY IN THE BALLROOM GALLERY OF THE DIXIE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IN HUNTINGDON THROUGH APRIL 26TH.  THE SERIES OF PHOTOGRAPHS FEATURE IMAGES OF FAMOUS DANCERS, WRITERS, MUSICIANS, ACTORS AND ARTISTS.  MANY OF THESE IMAGES WERE FEATURED IN THE NEW YORK TIMES AND PEOPLE MAGAZINE IN ADDITION TO BEING INCLUDED AT THE SMITHSONIAN.  TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS FREE EXHIBIT, GO TO DIXIEPAC.NET.

2/28  THE PARIS PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT HAVE RESCHEDULED THEIR 10 & UNDER TENNIS CAMP AT THE ATKINS PORTER REC CENTER.  THE CAMP WILL NOW BE TUESDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHTS FROM 6:30PM-7:30PM STARTING IN MID-APRIL AND GOING UNTIL EARLY MAY.  REGISTRATION FEE IS $25.  TO SIGN UP, CALL 644-2517 OR GO BY THE PARIS CIVIC CENTER. 

2/28  THE STEWART COUNTY LIBRARY IN DOVER WILL HOST A QUILTING WORKSHOP ON SATURDAY FROM 9AM-4PM.  THE HOOPSTER SISTERS WILL BE ON HAND TO DISCUSS QUILTING TECHNIQUES DURING THE CIVIL WAR.   TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO SIGN UP, CALL 931-232-3127.

2/28  THE CHUCK WAGON GANG, CELEBRATING 75 YEARS OF GOSPEL MUSIC, WILL PERFORM AT FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN UNION CITY ON SATURDAY NIGHT STARTING AT 6PM.  THE EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  A LOVE OFFERING WILL BE TAKEN. 

3/1  THERE WILL BE A BENEFIT FOR JIMMY SMOTHERS ON SUNDAY STARTING AT 1PM AT LET’ER BUCK SALOON ON HIGHWAY 641 BETWEEN CAMDEN AND PARIS.  JIMMY HAS STAGE 4 PROSTATE CANCER SO PROCEEDS WILL GO TOWARDS HIS MEDICAL BILLS AND EXPENSES.  THERE WILL BE AUCTIONED  ITEMS, BBQ PLATES FOR SALE AND LIVE MUSIC FROM 5 BANDS.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 644-9052.

3/1  TEAM WALMART WILL HOST A WALK OF HOPE BOWLING TOURNAMENT ON SUNDAY FROM 2PM-4PM AT SOUTHLANE BOWLING ALLEY ON REELFOOT AVENUE ON UNION CITY.  IT’S $15 PER ADULT OR $10 PER CHILD TO PARTICIPATE.  THERE WILL BE A $25 GIFT CARD FOR THE TOP BOWLER IN WOMEN’S, MEN’S AND CHILDREN’S CATEGORIES.  THEY’LL BE DOOR PRIZES AND SILENT AUCTION ITEMS TOO.  PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE OBION COUNTY WALK OF HOPE EVENT.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL LISA AT 884-0114. 

3/5  THE TWRA WILL SPONSOR ANOTHER HUNTER SAFETY CLASS STARTING ON MONDAY NIGHT AT 6:30PM AT THE FIRST ASSEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH FELLOWSHIP HALL IN UNION CITY.  IT’S A FIVE NIGHT COURSE.  STUDENTS MUST ATTEND ALL FIVE NIGHTS AND THE SHOOT ON SATURDAY, MARCH 21ST.  CHILDREN MUST BE 9 YEARS OF AGE IN ORDER TO TAKE THE CLASS AND BE CERTIFIED.  EVERYONE TAKING THE CLASS MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE ONLINE AT TNWILDLIFE.ORG.  IF YOU NEED HELP REGISTERING OR HAVE QUESTIONS, CONTACT KEN ASHER AT 446-7357.

3/5  THE ANNUAL HORSESHOES FOR HOPE FUNDRAISER WILL BE THURSDAY, MARCH 5TH FROM 10:30AM-6PM AT THE CHRISTIAN LIFE CENTER AT FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN PARIS.  FOR $10, YOU GET AN OPEN-FACED HORSESHOE SANDWICH, DESSERT AND DRINK.  PROCEEDS FROM THE EVENT WILL BENEFIT BOTH HOOFBEATS OF HOPE AND THE R.E.A.L. 3/7  AMERICAN LEGION POST 72 WILL HOLD A PANCAKE BREAKFAST ON SATURDAY, MARCH 7TH FROM 6AM-11AM AT ST. EDWARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH ON EDDINGS STREET IN FULTON, KY.  IT’S ALL YOU CAN EAT PANCAKES FOR JUST $5.  PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT KENTUCKY AND TENNESSEE BOYS’ AND GIRL’S STATE PROGRAMS.

3/8  CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH ON REELFOOT AVENUE IN UNION CITY WILL WELCOME ERNIE HAASE & SIGNATURE SOUND ON SUNDAY, MARCH 8TH AT 6PM.  THERE IS NO ADMISSION CHARGE BUT A LOVE OFFERING WILL BE RECEIVED.

3/10  PROGRESSIVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH IN MARTIN WILL HOST THEIR ANNUAL “FAMILY AND FRIENDS 3 NIGHT CELEBRATION” ON SUNDAY, MARCH 8TH AT 6PM AND MONDAY, MARCH 9TH & TUESDAY, MARCH 10TH AT 7PM.  DR. RON WEBB FROM MOUNT CALVARY POWERHOUSE CHURCH IN POPLAR BLUFF, MISSOURI WILL BE THE GUEST SPEAKER.  EVERYONE IS WELCOMED.

3/17  THE ANNUAL ST. PATTY’S DAY LUNCHEON FUNDRAISER WILL BE FROM 11AM-1PM ON TUESDAY, MARCH 17TH AT THE FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH IN DOWNTOWN PARIS.  THE MENU INCLUDES AN IRISH BAKED POTATO BAR, “SHAMROCK” GREEN SALAD AND “LEPRECHAUN” DESSERTS AND DRINKS.  IT IS A $10 DONATION.  YOU CAN DINE IN OR CARRY OUT.  PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT LOCAL MISSIONS.

3/17  THE GLEASON CLINIC WILL HOST “GIRL TALK” CLASS FOR 4 NIGHTS IN MARCH.  MARCH 17TH IS FOR MOTHERS ONLY TO ATTEND.  MARCH 19TH, 24TH AND 26TH IS FOR BOTH MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS.  TO REGISTER FOR THE CLASS CALL 648-5634.

3/28  THE PURYEAR BOY SCOUT TROOP 226 WILL HOST A PANCAKE BREAKFAST ON SATURDAY, MARCH 28TH FROM 7AM-11AM AT THE FAMILY LIFE CENTER AT PURYEAR BAPTIST CHURCH.  THE BREAKFAST IS A SUGGESTED DONATION FOR $7 FOR ADULTS AND $3 FOR CHILDREN UNDER 5.  PROCEEDS WILL HELP SUPPORT THE BOY SCOUTS.

4/11  THE STEWART COUNTY HEALTH COUNCIL WILL HOST THE FIRST EVER “MARATHON IN A MONTH” KICK-OFF AT THE STEWART COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL SMART COURSE ON SATURDAY, APRIL 11TH.  THIS PROGRAM IS A WAY TO GET PEOPLE MOVING AND MOTIVATE CITIZENS TO LIVE A HEALTHIER, MORE PRODUCTIVE LIFESTYLE.  EACH PERSON HAS UNTIL MAY 11TH TO COMPLETE 26.2 MILES.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 232-5351.
