1/27  THERE WILL BE A JAMBALAYA SUPPER ON TUESDAY IN THE UNION CITY HIGH SCHOOL CAFETERIA STARTING AT 4:30PM, RIGHT BEFORE THE UNION CITY BASKETBALL GAME AGAINST GIBSON COUNTY.  IT’S $6 PER PERSON AND IT INCLUDES A BOWL OF JAMBALAYA, CRACKERS, DESSERT AND A DRINK.  ALL PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE UNION CITY HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS.

1/30  THE PARIS/HENRY COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WILL HOST AN EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP ON CYBER SECURITY ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 30TH STARTING AT 10AM.  BRANDON JOHNSON FROM WEST KENTUCKY & TENNESSEE COMMUNICATIONS WILL OFFER EXPERT ADVICE ON IDENTIFYING VIRUS-CAUSING PROGRAMS AND WHAT TO DO IF YOUR COMPUTER GETS INFECTED.  TO RESERVE YOUR SEAT CALL 615-428-8618.

1/30  THE HENRY COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM WILL HOST A CHILI SUPPER FUNDRAISER ON FRIDAY NIGHT FROM 5PM-7PM IN THE HENRY COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL CAFETERIA .  THE SUPPER INCLUDES CHILI, SANDWHICH, CHIPS, DRINK AND DESSERT.  TICKETS ARE $7 AND CAN BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE FROM ANY MEMBER OF THE BASEBALL TEAM OR YOU CAN PAY AT THE DOOR.

1/31  THE 2015 WORLD’S BIGGEST FISH FRY HOSTESS PRINCESS PAGEANT WILL BE JANUARY 31ST AT THE KRIDER PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IN PARIS STARTING AT 7PM.  THE PAGEANT IS OPEN TO ALL YOUNG LADIES BETWEEN THE AGES OF 16 AND 20.  THE REMAINING PAGEANTS WILL TAKE PLACE THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND, FEBRUARY 7TH & 8TH, AT THE KPAC.  TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO GET YOUR ENTRY FORM, GO TO WORLDSBIGGESTFISHFRY.COM. 

1/31  REELFOOT LAKE STATE PARK IS ONCE AGAIN OFFERING EAGLE BUS TOURS TO OBSERVE BALD EAGLES AND OTHER WATERFOWL.  THE TWO-HOUR TOURS ARE CONDUCTED SEVEN DAYS A WEEK THROUGH THE END OF FEBRUARY.  RESERVATIONS ARE RECOMMENDED AND TICKETS CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE VISITOR CENTER FOR $5 PER PERSON.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 731-253-9652.

2/2  THE VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE SITE OPENS ON TUESDAY IN PARIS AND WILL REMAIN IN OPERATION FOR ALL TUESDAYS IN THE MONTHS OF FEBRUARY AND MARCH.  THE SITE IS LOCATED AT THE ATKINS-PORTER RECREATION CENTER ON HIGHLAND STREET.  BE SURE TO BRING INDENTIFICATION, SOCIAL SECURITY CARDS, WAGE STATEMENTS AND ANY OTHER TAX INFORMATION YOU HAVE AVAILABLE.  TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, CALL 642-4178.

2/14  THE MARTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERS OF THE 26TH SESSION OF THE CITIZEN’S POLICE ACADEMY.  THE CLASS WILL MEET FOR ONE NIGHT A WEEK FOR TEN WEEKS STARTING ON MARCH 10TH.  INSTUCTION WILL INCLUDE CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, DUI ENFORCEMENT AND OTHER AREAS.  APPLICATIONS CAN BE PICKED UP AT THE MARTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT OR ONLINE AT MARTINDPS.ORG.  THE COST IS $20.  APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL FEBRUARY 13TH OR UNTIL THE CLASS IS FILLED.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 731-587-5355 (EXT 235).

2/28  THE PARIS-HENRY COUNTY HERITAGE CENTER IS HOSTING A TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM TRAVELING EXHIBIT “COMMON PEOPLE IN UNCOMMON TIMES”.  THIS EXHIBIT IS A CELEBRATION OF THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CIVIL WAR AND THE CIVIL WAR EXPERIENCE IN TENNESSEE.  THE EXHIBIT RUNS UNTIL MARCH 28TH AND ADMISSION IS FREE.
