4/2  LIFELINE BLOOD SERVICES WILL HAVE THE “HENRY COUNTY BATTLE OF THE BADGES BLOOD DRIVE” DURING THEIR REGULAR MONTHLY VISIT AT FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN DOWNTOWN PARIS ON THURSDAY FROM NOON-6PM.  LIFELINE WILL ALSO BE AT CASH SAVER IN HUNTINGDON ON THURSDAY FROM 1PM-6PM.  TO SEE A COMPLETE LIST OF WHEN AND HOW YOU CAN DONATE BLOOD GO TO LIFELINEBLOODSERV.ORG.

4/2  THE W.G. RHEA LIBRARY IN PARIS WILL HOST A “GLOW-IN-THE-DARK EASTER EGG HUNT ON THURSDAY NIGHT STARTING AT 7PM.  THIS EVENT IS FREE FOR THOSE AGE 11-18.  JUST BRING AN EASTER BAG/BASKET AND A FLASHLIGHT.  PRIZES INCLUDE CASH, COUPONS AND A KINDLE.

4/2  THE PARIS-HENRY COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL WILL ONCE AGAIN HOST THEIR 30TH ANNUAL COMMUNITY ARTIST SHOWCASE.  YOU ARE WELCOMED TO SUBMIT UP TO THREE PIECES OF ART.  THERE IS A $10 FEE PER PIECE FOR ADULTS.  THERE IS NO FEE FOR THOSE 16 AND UNDER.  ENTRY FORMS MUST BE TURNED IN TO THE ARTS COUNCIL OFFICE BY THURSDAY.  ALL WORK MUST BE DELIVERED TO THE W.G. 4/4  THE HENRY COUNTY PREVENTION COALITION WILL HOST A 5K TYE DYE RUN ON SATURDAY AT MEMORIAL PARK IN PARIS STARTING AT 10AM.  TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO GET SIGNED UP, CALL ERICA AT 731-336-2250.

4/4  THE QUOTA CLUB OF PARIS WILL HOST AN EASTER BAKE SALE ON SATURDAY FROM 8AM-NOON AT COMMERCIAL BANK ON MINERAL WELLS AVENUE IN PARIS.  THEY WILL HAVE CAKES, PIES, COBBLERS, CUPCAKES AND OTHER TREATS FOR SALE.  PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE QUOTA CLUB SCHOLARSHIP FUND.

4/4  PARIS LANDING STATE PARK WILL HOST THEIR ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT ON SATURDAY STARTING AT 2PM.  HUNDREDS OF GOODIES WILL BE SPREAD OUT ON THE GRASS BY THE PICNIC AREA FOR CHILDREN AGES 2-12.  THE EVENT IS FREE AND SPONSORED BY THE PARIS LANDING VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT & PARIS LANDING STATE PARK.

4/4  CROSSWIND CHURCH WILL HOST THEIR ANNUAL COMMUNITY EASTER EGG HUNT ON SATURDAY FROM 11AM-1PM AT THE CHURCH ON BARHAM ROAD IN UNION CITY.  THEY’LL HAVE FREE FOOD, BOUNCE HOUSES, PRIZES AND MORE.  EVERYONE IS WELCOME.  TO FIND OUT MORE, GO TO CROSSWINDCHURCH.NET.

4/4  DISCOVERY PARK OF AMERICA WILL HOST AN EASTER EGG HUNT ON SATURDAY ON THE GREAT LAWN OF DPA.  THE EASTER BUNNY WILL ARRIVE VIA HELICOPTER AT 1:30PM.  THERE WILL BE SEVERAL AGE DIVISIONS FOR HUNTS:  3 & UNDER AT 2:3OPM, AGES 4-6 AT 3PM AND AGES 7-10 AT 3:30PM.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 885-5455 OR GO TO DISCOVERYPARKOFAMERICA.COM.

4/4  THE PML RELAY FOR LIFE TEAM WILL HOST THE JIMMY CHURCH BAND ON SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE PARIS CONVENTION CENTER FROM 8PM-MIDNIGHT.  TICKETS ARE $20 AND THE EVENT IS BYOB.  FOR TICKET INFORMATION, CALL 642-7398 (EXT. 221) OR VISIT THE PML OFFICE AT 75 COUNTY HOME ROAD.

4/4  THE HOOF BEATS OF HOPE DINNER AND AUCTION WILL BE SATURDAY NIGHT IN THE ENOCH BUILDING AT THE HENRY COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS.  DINNER WILL BE SERVED STARTING AT 5PM AND THE MENU INCLUDES RIBEYE STEAK, SALAD, BAKED POTATO, ROLL, DESSERT AND DRINK.  TICKETS FOR THE DINNER ARE $20.  THE SILENT AUCTION WILL BEGIN AT 5PM AND THE LIVE AUCTION AT 7PM.  TICKETS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE AUCTIONS.  TICKETS MAY BE PURCHASED FROM HOOF BEATS STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS.

4/5  CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH ON REELFOOT AVENUE IN UNION CITY WILL PRESENT “THE CROSS RAN RED” AT 8:30AM AND 10:45AM ON EASTER SUNDAY.  BOTH PRESENTATIONS WILL BE INTERPRETED FOR THE DEAF AND RESERVED SEATING WILL BE AVAILABLE.

4/7  THE TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT’S CAREER COACH WILL BE AT THE CAMDEN CAREER CENTER, ON NORTH CHURCH STREET, ON TUESDAY FROM 10AM-2PM TO ASSIST JOB SEEKERS IN BENTON COUNTY AND THE SURROUNDING AREA.  THE STAFF WILL BE ON-SITE HELPING PEOPLE TO CREATE RESUMES AND REGISTER WITH JOBS4TN.GOV WHERE THERE ARE MORE THAN 90,000 JOBS AVAILABLE.

4/9  THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM, “SCAM ALERT” WILL BE PRESENT IN THE ENOCH BUILDING AT THE HENRY COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS ON THURSDAY, APRIL 9TH FROM 10AM-NOON.  THIS PROGRAM WILL HELP THE PUBLIC LEARN THE INDICATORS OF SCAMS AND WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE BEEN TARGETED BY SCAMMERS.  THE PROGRAM IS FREE BUT REGISTRATION IS ENCOURAGED.  BREAKFAST WILL BE PROVIDED AT 10AM.  CALL THE CHAMBER OFFICE AT 642-3431 TO GET REGISTERED.

4/10  THE PARIS/HENRY COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WILL HOST THEIR ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT ON FRIDAY, APRIL 10TH AT THE TENNESSEAN GOLF COURSE.  LUNCH WILL BE SERVED AT 11AM AND TEE OFF WILL BE AT NOON.  TO GET SIGNED UP, CONTACT THE CHAMBER OFFICE AT 642-3431.

4/11  THE KIDS FISHING RODEO, PRESENTED BY CRAPPIE USA, WILL BE SATURDAY, APRIL 11TH AT PARIS LANDING MARINA.  SIGN-UPS ARE FROM 8AM-9AM WITH THE TOURNAMENT TAKING PLACE FROM 9AM-11AM.  THIS IS FOR CHILDREN 12 & UNDER AND ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO WIN ONE OF SIX $1,000 SCHOLARSHIPS. 

4/11  THE STEWART COUNTY HEALTH COUNCIL WILL HOST THE FIRST EVER “MARATHON IN A MONTH” KICK-OFF AT THE STEWART COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL SMART COURSE ON SATURDAY, APRIL 11TH.  THIS PROGRAM IS A WAY TO GET PEOPLE MOVING AND MOTIVATE CITIZENS TO LIVE A HEALTHIER, MORE PRODUCTIVE LIFESTYLE.  EACH PERSON HAS UNTIL MAY 11TH TO COMPLETE 26.2 MILES.  TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL 232-5351.

4/12  THE DYERSBURG HIGH SCHOOL TROJAN DRAMA DEPARTMENT WILL PRESENT THE PLAY “SOMETHING…A PLAY ABOUT EVERYTHING” THURSDAY, APRIL 9TH THROUGH SUNDAY, APRIL 12TH AT THE DYERSBURG HIGH SCHOOL LITTLE THEATER.  THURSDAY, FRIDAY & SATURDAY SHOWS ARE AT 7PM AND THE SUNDAY AFTERNOON MATINEE WILL BE AT 2PM.  TICKETS ARE $6 AND THEY’RE AVAILABLE AT THE BOX OFFICE JUST PRIOR TO THE SHOW.

4/17  THE TWIN CITIES CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WILL HOST A TRIVIA NIGHT ON FRIDAY, APRIL 17TH FROM 7PM-9PM AT THE PONTOTOC BUILDING IN FULTON.  TEAMS WILL COMPETE BY ANSWERING REGULAR TRIVIA QUESTIONS PLUS THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL CATEGORY DEVOTED TO “TWIN CITIES PAST AND PRESENT”.  TO GET REGISTERED OR TO FIND OUT MORE, CALL THE CHAMBER OFFICE AT 731-479-7029.

4/17  THE ANNUAL “GLO FOR A CURE” 5K WILL BE FRIDAY, APRIL 17TH AT FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN UNION CITY.  REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN AT 6:30PM AND THE RACE WILL BEGIN AT DUSK.  REGISTRATION IS $20 IF YOU PAY BY APRIL 10TH (AND THAT INCLUDES A T-SHIRT & GLO WEAR) OTHERWISE IT IS $25 ON RACE DAY.  PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED IN ALL AGE BRACKETS.  ALL PROCEEDS GO TO THE CYSTIC FIBROSIS FOUNDATION.  TO FIND OUT MORE OR TO GET SIGNED UP, EMAIL CFFRIENDSFORACURE@GMAIL.COM.

4/18  THE BETHEL UNIVERSITY RENAISSANCE THEATER PROGRAM WILL STAGE THEIR PRODUCTION OF “LES MISERABLES” AT THE DIXIE CARTER PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IN HUNTINGDON.  PERFORMANCES WILL FRIDAY, APRIL 10TH, FRIDAY, APRIL 17TH & SATURDAY, APRIL 18TH AT 7PM AND SATURDAY, APRIL 11TH AT 2PM.  TICKETS ARE $20 EACH AND CAN BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE AT DIXIEPAC.NET OR AT THE BOX OFFICE.

4/18  THE 1ST ANNUAL “MILES FOR MEALS” 5K AND 1 MILE FUN RUN WILL BE SATURDAY, APRIL 18TH AT THE MARTIN RECREATIONAL COMPLEX.  THIS EVENT IS BEING HELD TO HELP PROVIDE EMERGENCY ITEMS LIKE MEAL AND HEATERS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.  TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE EVENT OR HOW TO REGISTER, CALL 587-4213.

4/30  THE MONTH OF APRIL IS “HENRY COUNTY RABIES VACCINATION MONTH”.  ALL PARTICIPATING ANIMAL CLINICS IN HENRY COUNTY WILL OFFER DOG OR CAT VACCINATIONS FOR $6 PLUS A $1.50 LICENSE FEE.  LAKEWAY ANIMAL CLINIC, MINERAL WELLS ANIMAL CLINIC, PARIS VETERINARY CLINIC AND THE ANIMAL DOCTOR WILL OFFER THESE SPECIAL RATES THROUGH APRIL 30TH.
